Plus: Can Vegans get enough Omega-3 from ALA only?
This weekâs edition is brought to you by allplants. Healthy, plant based eating made easy with chef prepared dishes, delivered.
Good morning! Welcome to VedgyVoice #4. In case you missed the memo 1st November was World Vegan Day and November is World Vegan Month. So itâs the perfect time to encourage any friends and family who might be thinking about making the switch.
It was nice to see a few brands get in on the act for World Vegan Day and share the odd post on social channels. Although inevitably this always brings out the knuckle draggers with their cutting edge comedy and sharp wit, feeling compelled to comment things like âmmmm baconâ. I think Elizabethâs response to one of these comments is good life advice in general for those sort of folk:

It also reminded me of my favourite Halloween joke: What do vegan zombies eat? GRAAAAAAAAAINS!

Thousands of Veganuary 2023 participants still follow a âfully vegan dietâ: More than a quarter of Veganuary 2023 participants are still following a âfully vegan dietâ, according to a new survey. The data comes from the initiativeâs six-month follow-up poll, exploring the long-term effects of the pledge. It also found that 36 percent of participants are eating âat least 75 percent lessâ meat and other animal products than before trying Veganuary; while 16 percent said they are now eating at least 50 percent less meat and animal products.
Remember folks, veganism is for life not just for January. Nonetheless, encouraging to see that these sort of challenges can have a positive long term impact.

The Game Changers
"The Game Changers" isnât specifically a vegan documentary, however it advocates for a fully plant-based diet by showcasing the experiences of various athletes and public figures who have adopted this diet, and the subsequent benefits they've seen in their performance and health. It also challenges common beliefs about protein sources and meat, debunking the myth that you need to consume animal products to be strong and healthy. A must watch.
You can watch it on Netflix.

What do you call a fat pumpkin? A plumpkin!
I know it was curry last week but damn I love a curry. This oneâs perfect for using up any leftover pumpkins from Halloween.
Quote of the Week
âTo kill an animal in order to satisfy your nutritional desires, not your nutritional needs, that seems to me to be completely unacceptable.â

I was treated to a birthday lunch at Edinburgh restaurant Soul Vegan last week and what a treat it was! A fully vegan Malaysian eatery, there was a fantastic range of options and the food we had was outstanding. If you are in or around Edinburgh or planning a trip in the near future make sure this place is on your itinerary. You can check out the dishes we had on Instagram:

As a vegan, you might be wondering whether itâs possible to obtain sufficient omega-3s from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) alone, given that some of the most popular sources of DHA and EPA omega-3s, such as fish and other sea creatures, are obviously not part of your diet.
